Abode: Old Office
My Old Office
As I have been getting back to the blog, I found some photos of my old office in Kokomo. It is funny to look back and see how I tried to make the most of a space I really didn’t love with very little money! However, I thought I would share so you can see soon how I have used some of these pieces in our new home, in a different way.
I also have some pieces that have worked really well, and I wanted to share some of those systems with you.
WORKSPACE TABLE
One of my favorite parts of my old office, and one that I have in my current office, is my huge work table. It actually isn’t a table, as I made it out of IKEA shelves and an IKEA tabletop. It didn’t fit perfectly but yall. IT HAS SO MUCH STORAGE. I don’t even have all the bins filled because it just added so much storage! As I do a lot of art/ scrapbooking/ design/ etc, it is so awesome to have a large space to spread out on!
Over time, the white top has gotten a bit dirty (paint, glue, etc), but having that large work space has been so helpful as I work on large projects with lots of pieces.
RECEIPT FILING SYSTEM
Okay. I am the first to admit that as a designer (well, frankly, just as an adult), it can be so tedious to sort all my receipts, checks, and other paperwork. I found that I needed a quick and accessible way for me to sort them. So I decided to have an aesthetic way to easily put them all away! I bought these metal envelopes at Hobby Lobby and labeled them for the primary categories I have receipts for. This helped me keep my business receipts separate from receipts that I was just hanging on to for potential returns. I would consider getting larger ones like these in the future because I would get so many receipts at times.
Again, I can’t wait to share what my new office looks like in our new home, but figured I would share some of these photos I found!
