2019 Home Trends I'm Loving: Bathroom

Here is my thing, when we have people over at least one person generally always uses the bathroom. Even though it may not seem like a primary room, as that person … ahem… has “time” to look around, it really is a room people take time and notice! I think it is an awesome time to provide hospitality and communicate a warm welcome to guests. As we are living a parsonage… we haven’t been able to adjust too much in our bathroom, but I think there are some small (and big things!) you can do to really make a bathroom a statement room.

MIRRORS

Okay, personally I have been really into black statement pieces lately. So although I love a good wood or gold mirror, I have been loving black ones this season, particularly with white walls! I think they are a fun pop!

Guest Supplies

Okay this is something I did for our new bathroom and am the biggest fan of! Below are some photos of a little “supply” station I have for our guests in case they forget anything. Not only is it cute but it is super helpful!

Bath Mats

This is another easy fix if you are in a apartment. A bath mat can absolute dress up what may be a not so fancy bathroom. Rather than just a plain black or solid color mat, try a fun patter or a little sassy one! The two mats on the sides (rise and shine and pattern) are from Urban Outfitters.

“Put a plant on it”

Okay, this I have decided I think is my decorating go-to. But we also have like over 40 plants in our house. Crazy plant lady? Maybe. But I do think that a plant can

New Towels/Shower Curtain

Another seemingly simple fix is just updating your towels! If you don’t have a huge budget, changing the “color scheme” of your bathroom is really great idea. You can get new plain colors or try a fun pattern if your bathroom is pretty boring. This 2019 season I’m loving striped towels in particular! (This goes for shower curtains too!)

MORE COMPLEX IMPROVEMENTS:

Colored Tile

Okay, I know this is a commitment! But how cool! White tile has been a trend for quite some time, but if you are really looking for a bold look try a unique tile. Now, from experience this is one of the more difficult bathroom alterations but it can really make a statement! I mean.. how gorgeous are these ones below!

Bathroom Chairrail

Again this can be a really easy DIY, but you have to be able to make some significant changes to your house to do this. It also works better, I think, in a bathroom with a pedestal sink. I think if you have a large cabinet that goes up pretty high, it makes the room cut off at a weird place. I think it looks good if you have some varying heights throughout the room. So I encourage this one, with caution! I think some examples (like if your bathroom is too small), can look crowded, but it also can make your bathroom out of the park!

Lighting Fixtures

Okay, I know it seems basic but lighting can really add a difference! These are from Lowes and Shades of LIght.

Hopefully that gives you some fun inspiration for your bathrooms this year! What other trends are you loving? Leave your favorites in the comments below!
